Scores of women from the Ahmed Markafi led faction of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday protested against the removal of Eyitayo Jegede as the party’s standard bearer in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
The women who marched from the PDP secretariat to the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) blamed INEC for the removal of Jegede’s name from the list.

Armed with placards with various inscriptions, the women said it was wrong for INEC to recognize Jimoh Ibrahim as the parity”s candidate because he is not a member of the party.

But the Vice Chairman of the Ali modu sheriff faction, described the protest as illegal.

He added the protests were sponsored by the government to create unnecessary tension in the state.
