Fuel Price: Organised Labour in Ekiti threatens to clamp down on defiant marketers

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union (TUC) in Ekiti have warned Independent Marketers in the state not to go against the new pump price as announced by President Muhammadu Buhari. Whilst speaking in Ekiti on Wednesday, NLC Chairman, Ade Adesanmi said the Union will not tolerate any form of defiance from the marketers. Adesanmi said organised labour would begin a clampdown on marketers who go against the directive on the new pump price regime beginning from next week. He said:  “We from the labour centre in Ekiti are consulting with NUPENG and other trade unions on the next line of action.” Odunayo Adesoye, Adesanmi’s counterpart in the TUC, appealed to the Independent Marketers to adopt the price of N86.5 per litre as against the N120 –N130 being sold by them. ‘’We are witnessing an abnormal situation here in Ekiti. The Kenyan Hollywood star is set to star in The Queen of Katwe, a biographical drama about a Ugandan chess prodigy. The movie is directed by Mira Nair and based on a book by Tim Crothers. The movie stars newcomer Madina Nalwanga as Phiona Mutsei, a young girl from the slums of Kampala who chases her dream of becoming an international chess champion. EFCC arrests APC chieftain Jafaru Isa over Dasukigate

Isa, who is described as a political associate of President Muhammadu Buhari was arrested by operatives of the commission on Wednesday at 9:30 PM, local time. TVC News' correspondent Sifon Essien reports that it's not yet clear why he was arrested. Sources within the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission say its in connection with the alleged diversion of the $2.1 billion meant for arms purchase by officials of the immediate-past administration. Isa is the first chieftain of the APC arrested by the EFCC since the beginning of the sweeping probe into the arms fund scandal popularly called Dasukigate. Netflix goes live in 130 new countries, including Nigeria

Prior to the announcement of the global push, Netflix was enjoyed in just 60 countries. The decision to go global announced by Chief Executive Reed Hastings is to counter slowing growth in the United States. Some of the other countries that will be able to access Netflix include Singapore, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam and India, Hastings said during a speech at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The service has previously said it aimed to reach 200 countries by the end of 2016. However, all shows will not be available immediately to some Netflix fans. Netflix's arrival in Nigeria will mean stiffer competition for pay-TV platforms like DSTV, though it’s too early to say how it will affect market share....

African Potash has sent the first 20,000 tonnes of fertiliser under a landmark trade - its first from the COMESA agreement, which will provide it with US$10.16mln of gross revenue.
