The unseeded Belarusian, who has been plagued by injuries in recent years, beat the fourth-seeded German 6-3 6-1. Enyimba to take on MFM FC in pre-season friendly

TVC E, SPORTS - Nigeria Premier League champions, Enyimba will tackle Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries FC (MFM) in a pre- season friendly on Sunday at the Agege Stadium. Both sides will use the game to perfect strategies ahead of the new season which is expected to start next month. Enyimba FC confirms Paul Aigbogun as new coach

TVC E, SPORTS - Enyimba Football Club has appointed Coach Paul Aigbogun as the new Technical Adviser of the club. Chairman of Enyimba, Felix Anyansi who revealed the news said that the management of the club settled for the ex-Warri Wolves gaffer because he knows the club very well having worked as assistant to Salisu Yusuf two seasons ago. Two ballot box snatchers arrested in Bayelsa state

TVC E, POLITICS - Two suspected ballot box snatchers in the Bayelsa state governorship rerun election have been arrested by security operatives. The suspects, believed to be agents of one of the political parties involved in Saturday's poll were arrested at Otuokpoti Unit 1, Ward 2, Ogbia Local Government Area. The suspects were said to have forcefully carried the ballot box while polling was ongoing at the unit. The incident caused pandemonium at the unit but after the suspects were taken away, accreditation and voting resumed. New Electricity tariff to take effect from Feb.1 — NERC

TVCE - The new electricity tariff recently released by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission will take effect from February 1, 2016, the commission has restated. According to a statement issued on Friday by the NERC Head of Public Affairs, Usman Abba-Arabi, the regulatory agency has directed all the distribution companies to abide by this directive and should not connect new customers without first providing them with meters. The statement noted that the acting Head of NERC, Anthony Akah, stated that the removal of fixed charge under the new tariff regime was in response to electricity consumers’ complaints. The measure, according to NERC, was to ensure that electricity distribution companies improve on service delivery as their income was dependent on the quantity of electricity used by their customers. Metuh’s continued detention illegal – PDP

TVC E, POLITICS - The Peoples Democratic Party says the continued detention of it's spokesman Olisa Metuh by anti-graft agency EFCC without pressing any charge against him is illegal. The PDP in a statement signed by its National Legal Adviser Victor Kwon says Metuh's detention is a breach of his constitutionally guaranteed liberty and fundamental rights. Stock market indices down by 0.87 percent

TVCE - The market indicators of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Friday depreciated further by 0.87 per cent amid profit taking. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the All-Share Index shed 237.79 points or 0.87 per cent to close at 27,028.39 against 27,266.18 achieved on Thursday. Also, the market capitalisation lost N82 billion or 0.87 per cent to close at N9.295 trillion compared with N9.377 trillion posted on Thursday. Nigerian Breweries topped the laggards’ chart, shedding N3.50 to close at N109.50 per share.  It was followed by Glaxosmithkline with a loss of N1.10 to close at N30, while Flour Mills lost N1.04 to close at N19.76 per share.
