 Audrey Silva’s new movie, ‘Surulere’ is set to hit the cinemas. The movie, which tells the story of patience and resilience, follows the life of a young, timid graduate, Arinze (played by Seun Ajayi) desperate to beat his financial burdens. In his journey, he meets a charming go-getter, Omosigho (played by Beverly Naya). Their meeting shoots off a series of events that pressure Arinze into a get-rich-quick scheme. Egypt’s banks to launch 4-year financing programme for SMEs: CBE

  Egypt’s central bank has called on banks to increase financing of small and medium-sized enterprises nationwide, key contributors to the state’s investment and production sectors. In a release issued on Monday on the bank’s website, the bank said it would require lenders to apportion 20 percent of their total loaning portfolio for SMEs, with interest rates below 5 percent imposed on firms generating between LE1 and LE20 million a year in revenue. The banks participating in the four-year programme will be able to deduct the loans from their required reserves at the central bank, according to the statement. The bank's new SME financing programme was announced as part of an ambitious plan by President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi on Saturday to assist smaller businesses. El-Sisi said that the loans, which will total an estimated LE200 billion, could benefit up to 350,000 projects, providing jobs to over four million employees. 23 year old serial killer paraded in Ogun State

   The Ogun state Police Command has paraded a suspect who participated in the killing of One Chief Tola Okuneye who was killed during a church service at Ijebu Igbo in 2014. The 23 year-old Kazeem Tiamiyu popularly known as 'Butcher', was alleged to be the 'hitman' of the New Black Movement Cult group in Ijebu-Ode area of the state. The Police also paraded the duo of Taiwo Adekunle and Sophia Opeifa, who were nabbed in Ijagun area of Ijebu-Ode for engaging in cross border arms smuggling, and one Nosa Unity who was apprehended with a fuel laden Truck. Olisa Metuh tells court to order his release from EFCC custody

TVC E, POLITICS - The spokesman the Peoples Democratic Party, Olisa Metuh has asked the Federal High Court in Lagos to order his release from EFCC custody. In an application filed through activist-lawyer, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, Metuh said his continued detention without charge is illegal. The PDP spokesman was arrested by EFCC operatives on January 5 in his Abuja home and has since been in custody. EFCC reportedly obtained an order from a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Wuse Zone 2 to detain Metuh, who was arrested in connection with about N1.4billion “suspicious” funds in the account of a company in which he has interest. CBN lifts ban on deposit in foreign currency

Commercial banks in Nigeria can now accept deposit in foreign currency once again as the Central Bank lifts the ban. CBN governor Godwin Emefiele announced this on Monday in Abuja saying the lift of the forex restriction was to allow the banks build liquidity in FOREX and meet some of their demands. He said the ban was necessitated by what he called dollarization of the economy by many Nigerians. Emefiele says the bank will discontinue sale of foreign exchange to Bureau De Change operators as part of move to preserve the nation’s external reserves. The apex bank boss said the BDCs operators are however allowed to source for forex from any other source that will not be contrary to the money laundering laws. He said the apex bank could not contend with the enormous challenges and reduction of the external reserves....

CBN stops sales of Foreign Exchange to Bureau de Change

The Central Bank of Nigeria will no longer sell foreign exchange to Bureau de Change in the country, according to the CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele. The CBN had severally alleged the practice is affecting the Naira negatively. The CBN hitherto sold $30,000 per week to the about 2,618 registered BDCs in Nigeria who apply. The CBN allows them to sell at some 3.5 per cent margin to keep afloat....

CBN assures Dangote of Forex support in $14b refinery project

The Central Bank of Nigeria says it would assist the Dangote Group to access foreign exchange to facilitate its $14 billion refinery project at Lekki Free Trade Zone in Lagos.
