Court Orders FG to produce Dasuki in court on Feb 16

A Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday 20, 2016 ordered the Federal Government to present the immediate past National Security Adviser, Col Sambo Dasuki (retd), in court on February 16. Justice Adeniyi Ademola made the injunction with respect to the four count charges of money laundering and illegal possession of firearms levelled against Dasuki by the Federal Government. The Judge said the charges are not related to the other two sets of charges bordering on alleged diversion of arms funds. NPS arraigns Nnamdi Kanu before new Judge

14 Children Sent to India for Heart Surgery – MTN Foundation

14 out of the 20 children who were diagnosed at the Gold Cross Hospital in Lagos have been shortlisted to go to India for heart surgery. This Project is done under the MTN Foundation Medical Intervention Scheme. The 14 beneficiaries are expected to leave the country Wednesday, January 20, 2016. MTN HR Medical team and some representatives traveled some weeks back to India to inspect the Hospital facilities which would be used to carry out the surgery, this was done to ensure safety. Two of the initial 16 beneficiaries selected for treatment dropped out and decided to pursue treatment in India by other means, leaving 14 beneficiaries in the current phase of the intervention. The beneficiaries, who are majorly children from families with little means, will be treated on all heart related illnesses. Buhari tells Telecommunications companies to adhere to NCC rules

President Muhammadu Buhari has urged Telecommunications companies operating in Nigeria to adhere strictly to rules and guidelines set out by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC). According to the report, the Nigerian President had stated this during an interactive forum with members of the Nigerian Community in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Buhari said there is a need for the telecommunication companies to place the security needs of the country above their desires for huge profits. “The registration of all mobile phone users without exception will help the security agencies to prevent terrorist attacks and as a result, all the telecommunication companies operating in Nigeria must adhere to the rules and guidelines of the Nigerian Communications Commission in this regard,” he said within the report. 4,000 Seater Seats Scrapped by Organizers -2016 Rio Olympics

Organizers of the 2016 Rio Olympics have expressed worry over the low rate at which the Olympic tickets are being sold. This is as a result of the economic recession the country is experiencing at the moment. Rio 2016: Organisers scrap 4,000-seater plan

TVCE (SPORTS) -- Rio 2016 organisers have scrapped plans for a 4,000-seater stand at the rowing and canoeing venue as part of a 500 million dollar-cost-cutting measure. Brazil is in a deep recession that is affecting all aspects of the Olympics, which begins in August. Only about half of the 4.5 million Olympic tickets aimed at the domestic audience have been sold. The numbers are much worse for the Paralympics, with only 300,000 out of three million domestic tickets sold. Organisers are scaling back in a number of areas to balance the operating budget of £1.3bn, with the proposed grandstand at the Rodrigo de Freitas lagoon in central Rio de Janeiro one of the casualties....
