Shia Leader, Sheikh Zakzaky Partly Paralysed

The detained leader of a pro-Iranian Shia group, Sheikh Zakzaky is reported to be partly paralysed, this is according to his lawyer.   Ibrahim Zakzaky, who leads the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), and his wife have been in detention since their home in Zaria was besieged by troops in December. Woman who thought was expecting one baby gives birth to quintuplets

TVC E. 25-year-old woman named Manita Kumar thought she was expecting a baby, she went into labor two months early and gave birth to quintuplets (five babies) all girls.     This happened April 2nd at the Civil Hospital in  Ambikapur,town of Chhhattisgartrt's Surguja district, India, the Times of India reports.   All five babies are said to be healthy but weighed 2 or 3 pounds at the time of their birth; underweight as compared to normal babies. Dr. K. R. Tekam, a paediatric at the hospital said they have been kept under the observation of doctors. The five girls have been named: Jiya, Jjanv, Jyoti, Jigayasa, and Janynamed. Saraki loses bid to stop his CCT trial

TVC E. Senate President Bukola Saraki this morning lost his bid to stop CCT from going on with his trial. Justice Abdul Kafarati of the federal high court, Abuja, dismissed Saraki's Fundamental Human rights suit challenging the jurisdiction of the Code of Conduct Tribunal to try him over alleged false declaration of assets while he was Governor of Kwara state. Justice Kafarati dismissed Saraki’s suit stating it lacked in merit. “It appears to me all that the applicant is trying to do is to stop his criminal trial at CCT. The CCT is a competent court to try the criminal matters,” he held. This court cannot interfere with the case at the tribunal which has power to try cases. ”Don’t detain suspects during investigation”- Arase warns policemen

TVC E The Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase yesterday warned operatives of the Edo State‎ Police Command to avoid detaining suspects indefinitely while still conducting their investigation on a case. Arase who gave the warning while addressing officers and men of the Command during an official visit to the state, also frowned at operatives of the Force interfering in civil offences relating to land matters and the criminalisation of such matters. According to him, the police must abide by the Nigerian constitution “I don’t expect most of you to bring people into our facility and detain‎ them indefinitely while you are shopping for evidence.
