Novak Djokovic Beats Andy Murray to Win His Title

World Tennis No.1 Player Novak Djokovic now boasts of 12 slam titles to his name, and there really is a very high probability he’ll have more than Roger Federer’s 17 by the end of his career. He’s basically a better version of his nearest rival and was barely bothered when he went behind today; he’s forgotten how to lose.

The Serbian player played excepyionally well to beat Andy Murray making this his first French Open title. This puts him as the first man since 1969 to hold all four Grand Slam titles concurrently.

Djokovic’s aggression at the net combined with Murray’s lack of consistency and his inability to clear his mind at key moments made the difference in the match that went on for over three hours. He eventually cameover his slow start and gradually went on to win the sets; 3-6, 6-1, 6-2, 6-4.

In his thank-you speech Djokovic slipped into English for Andy’s benefit, talking of “very special moments we’ve shared … I’m sure I’ll be seeing you with big trophies in the future … I know how much work you guys put in .. he’s one of the most dedicated guys on the tour… My family, my team, thank you so much for tolerating everything on a daily basis. There’s plenty of things I can talk about till tomorrow … but thank you so much for being able to manage me.”
Although a vast majority of the crowd was not on Murray’s side but he overlooked it while giving his thank-you speech. He apologised for his lack of French, thanked his team and the crowd, the ballkids, grounds staff and umpires, congratulated Novak’s team, and then congratulated Novak – “what he’s achieved is phenomenal … It’s not happened for an extremely long time and it’s going to take an extremely long time for it to happen again… obviously it sucks to lose the match … I’m proud to have been part of today.”
