Compose music you won’t be ashamed of in next 20 years – Sunny Ade
Juju music legend and maestro, Chief Sunday Adeniyi Adegeye a.k.a King Sunny Ade (KSA) has encouraged musicians in the country to forecast whenever they are planning to compose songs and put into consideration how relevant such music will be in the next 20 years.
The Ondo born music legend in an interview on the sidelines of his 70th birthday said, “I want the young artistes to know that they are very lucky. In those days, no family wanted or allowed their children to have connection with music, but today, family members introduce their children to big artistes to put them through.”
Speaking further, he said, “Nowadays, we see more of vulgar lyrics. It happened in those days, but it has been corrected…all what the artistes need to do is what the ears will hear and eyes will see that in 20 years, they will not be ashamed or regret anything. Moreover, we don’t have many schools of music in Nigeria, yet we are still progressing. What I want them to do is to give a sense of belonging to Nigerians, Africans and sense of belonging to music of black people where they have their roots,” KSA added.
