Manchester United are willing to pay Alexis Sanchez more than £350,000 per week, as the club take the lead in signing the Chilean player.

Sky sporrts reports that United are confident they have the right package in place to satisfy both the Gunners and Sanchez, and Arsene Wenger who admitted on Sunday that Sanchez could be gone within 48 hours.

Arsene Wenger says Alexis Sanchez could leave Arsenal in the next 48 hours but a replacement will be found in the January transfer window. Sanchez did not travel with Arsenal for their game at Bournemouth

City are unwilling to pay more than £20m for a player who is out of contract in the summer, and unprepared to pay him more than their current stars such as Kevin de Bruyne, clears the way for Manchester United to buy the 29-year-old.

City have been in discussions with Sanchez and Felicevich since before last summer. Yet it is understood each upped their demands late last week.

This has left the Premier League leaders accepting that the forward will not join unless he is performs a U-turn.
