The organizers of Big Brother Naija have been under fire since the relaunch of the reality TV show in 2017. Nigerians have continuously questioned why the show is being hosted in South Africa.

According to the Managing Director of Multichoice Nigeria, John Ugba, the show is being hosted in South Africa due to logistics and production dispute.

“We have the Angolan version, we also have several versions running which are shot in the same house. If we do Big Brother Zimbabwe, or South Africa we still have to take it to South Africa. It doesn’t make any sense to move to every country and shoot a TV series there.”

“We can’t build a new Big Brother House in every country, especially with all the production equipment, logistics and thousands of cables to move around. However, most of the producers of the show and the crew are from Nigeria.” Ugba remarked.
