Update on rising singer, Alizee’s murder: Husband pleads not guilty in court
The court has ordered that Peter Nielsen, the Danish national who allegedly killed his wife Alizee, a rising Nigerian artiste and her daughter, to be remanded in custody.
Nielsen, 53, was arraigned on two counts bordering on murder before the Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, today.
The prosecutor, CSP Effiong Asuquo, told the court that Nielsen committed the offenses on April 5 at his residence at Block 4, Flat 17, Bella Vista Tower, Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos.
He alleged that the accused killed his wife, Zainab Ali, 37, and their daughter, Petra, in the house.
“The accused, who was always at loggerheads with his wife, had hit her head on the wall several times, leading to her death. He also proceeded to poison his daughter.
“He had dragged their bodies under the gas to create the impression that they suffocated to death as a result of a gas leakage,” he said.
Nielsen, who faces the death sentence if found guilty of the offences, pleaded not guilty.
The case has been adjourned until May 8, pending the DPP’s advice.
According to a source who spoke to LIB, Alizee, as she was popularly called, was allegedly murdered by her husband, Peter Nielsen, together with their 4-year old-daughter, Petra Nielsen, in their Banana Island home in Lagos on April 5.
Confirming the tragic news, a member of her management team had this to say: “its really a shocking and sad development. We all woke up to the sad news of her death this morning and to find out that the h*micide was committed by her husband makes it all the more sad. The Police has been brought in to the case and we’ll share more details as we get them.”
