27 female prostitutes sentenced to prison by court in Abuja

A mobile court in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, has sentenced 27 women to one month in prison for prostitution. The convicts, who were arrested last Wednesday and Thursday, were, however, given an option of N3,000 fine each.   Their lawyer, Jennifer Ogbogu, explained that the sex workers pleaded guilty to the charges against them and were summarily convicted and sentenced. She said, “The ladies were arraigned before the mobile court for prostitution and were each sentenced to three months in jail with an option of N3,000 fine. Jealous lover who allegedly set ex-girlfriend’s family ablaze in Ogun state has been apprehended

Adedeji Williams Adenuga, the man suspected to have set his ex-girlfriend's family of nine on fire in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State, has been caught.   Recall that the man brought a jerrycan of fuel in the midnight, gained entrance into the building of his ex-girlfriend by breaking a window, and set the family on fire while they were asleep. Adenuga, best known as 'Ojuode' escaped from the town after perpetrating the alleged act. A 100 level Chemical Engineering student, Hikmat Gbadamosi of the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State found dead in her room after a long-standing battle with depression.   Late Hikmat was found dead in her room, yesterday, April 29. Nigerian man wrongly accused of kidnapping killed by angry mob in South Africa

A Nigerian man has been killed while another is facing a critical condition in south Africa, following a mob attack drawn from false alarm. 34-year-old Nigerian, Samuel Nkennaya was killed while Chinonso Nwudo is in critical condition in South Africa following the attack. According to a statement released by the Secretary of Mpumalanga Province branch of the Nigerian Union in South Africa (NUSA), Victor Ayanfe-Oyebanjo, Nkennaya and Nwudo were attacked following accusations that both men kidnapped Chinonye, a six-year-old girl, who unknown to their attackers was Nwudo’s daughter. Ayanfe-Oyebanjo said trouble started when Nwudo took his six-year-old daughter, Chinonye, to visit Nkennaya at White River town in the evening of April 27.
