Man arrested for smuggling Cannabis to prison inmate

FCT Nigerian Prison Service oficials have a[pprehended a man, Clement Jacob, for allegedly smuggling Cannabis to a Kuje Medium Security Prison inmate. Command's Public Relations Officer, Chukwuedo Humphrey issued a statement saying that Jacob was arrested by one Inspector Hussain Ibrahim, who noticed the exchange of sandals between him and Onyejikacki and conducted a search on the suspect. “Our officers have apprehended one Clement Jacob for attempting to smuggle a substance suspected to be Indian hemp into the prison facility. The substance was to be delivered to Onyejikacki, an inmate of the Kuje Prison. Jacob ran out of luck when he exchanged his sandals with those of the inmate after his session of prison visit. Man sentenced to 10 months in prison for 1.4 million naira fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibadan Zonal Office, has convicted an Adebunmi Raheem Adisa to 8 months in prison for 1.8 million naira fraud. He was convicted and sentenced by Justice Ladiran Akintola of the Oyo State High Court. The convict, who was earlier arraigned on May 22, 2018 before Justice Munta Abimbola, the Oyo State Chief Judge and presiding jurist in Court 1, was originally facing nine-count offences that border on obtaining money by false pretense and forgery. The offence is contrary to section 1(2) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related (Offences) Act, 2006 and Punishable under Section 1(3) of the same Act, while the latter contravenes Section 467 of the Criminal Code.
