Shakira in trouble over tax evasion allegations

A Spanish court has accused the Columbian singer Shakira, of avoiding to pay €14.5m (£13m) in taxes. The 42-year-old claimed she was up-to-date with her taxes and had given her full cooperation to the investigation and had no outstanding debts with the tax authorities. In a statement released on Thursday morning, Shakira’s PR company said she had appeared in court to “help clarify the facts over her tax situation in Spain”. It said the singer had always met her tax obligations in every country where she had worked and did not own taxes to the Spanish state. “As soon as she learned how much she owed the Spanish tax authorities – and before a complaint was filed – Shakira paid the full amount, as well as providing the tax office with exhaustive information. Rapper and actor Folarin Falana popularly known as Falz, revealed during a TV interview that he does not go to church but believes in spirituality over religion. We may recall that during his last album listening party his mother revealed this in her statement; “Folarin, you don’t go to church and I am bothered. I hope you would start going to church this year.” Falz however had this to say during his recent TV interview; “I’m not an atheist. I believe there is a God.
