Ondo PDP calls for calm over INEC’s final list of guber candidates

The Ondo state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called for calm over the appearance of Mr Jimoh Ibrahim's name on the list of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the party's candidate for next month's governorship election. A statement by the Party's Director of Publicity, Ayo Fadaka said the development was shocking as Jimoh Ibrahim is not a member of the PDP. 'This development is not only shocking but a complete aberration as a man absolutely unknown to the Party has been made our candidate,' Fadaka said. Fadaka however expressed hope that this temporary set back will be resolved by the Appeal court in Abuja which begins sitting today just as he advised members to be law abiding. Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Reform group has urged Mr Jimoh Ibrahim, the Ondo governorship candidate of the Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff-led faction to reconsider his action. This is contained in a statement signed by the Convener of the PDP Reform Group, Mr Ariyo-Dare Atoye, in Abuja on Sunday. Atoye said that the advice became necessary as political parties jostling for the Nov. 25 governorship seat in Ondo commenced their campaigns. The pressure group within the PDP, said that its time for Ibrahim to reconsider his action and retrace his steps. Atoye urged Ibrahim to “deeply reflect on the propriety of his current political misadventure as a PDP parody-candidate”.
