FG inaugurates committee on solid minerals development

TVC E, BUSINESS - The Federal Government has inaugurated a 17-man committee to develop a blueprint to guide the transformation of the solid minerals sector in the country. Given the dwindling fortunes of the nation as a result of falling oil prices, the Federal Government has hinged the diversification of the economy on the solid minerals and agricultural sectors. The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Kayode Fayemi says the committee will produce a 25-year action plan for the transformation of the solid minerals sector. #Ekitigate : Court orders Aluko’s arrest

TVC E, POLITICS - The Ekiti State Government has obtained a court order for the arrest of the former Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party-Tope Aluko. The Attorney General of the state told newsmen in Ado Ekiti that on the strength of a petition by one Olowolafe Sunday, he has obtained an order from Chief Magistrate Soji Adegboye directing the police to arrest Aluko for alleged perjury. Lere Olayinka, the media aide to Governor Ayo Fayose, via Twitter also confirmed the report. “Court issued Warrant of Arrest against TKO ALUKO for Perjury. Police ordered to arrest him,” Olayinka wrote. Aluko caused controversy on Sunday, January 31, after he unraveled an alleged grand scheme which ensured Governor Ayo Fayose won the June 2014 guber poll in Ekiti state. Ekitigate: APC calls for prosecution of indicted persons

The party's spokesperson, Taiwo Olatunbosun, said the election fraud crisis had refused to go despite all maneuvering by Governor Ayodele Fayose. He said Fayose is the biggest beneficiary of the election fraud that had created blight on Nigeria's international image. The APC spokesman said that it had become pertinent to prosecute the suspects as the revelations were again emanating from the insider who participated fully in what is now known as Ekiti gate. How Fayose rigged Fayemi out of office – PDP chieftain

TVC E, POLITICS - Embattled former secretary of the Ekiti state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, Temitope Aluko, has alleged that former President Goodluck Jonathan gave Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State, $37m cash to prosecute the June 21, 2014, governorship election in the state. Aluko said the money was effectively used to defeat the then Governor of the State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, who was the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress. Aluko, a member of the team that prosecuted the election, said Jonathan gave Fayose $2 million in March 2014 for the primary election. He alleged that the cash was collected at the NNPC Towers in Abuja from businessman Ifeanyi Uba, who last night denied playing any role in the election or giving Fayose any money.
