TVC E. The much talked about 2017 budget was finally signed by the Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo yesterday, one month after it was passed. Shortly after he signed it at the presidential villa, Osinbajo explained that the delay in the signing of the 2017 Appropriation Bill was due to disagreements between the executive and the National Assembly. According to him, 'the final presentation and the signing of the budget has been considerably delayed. This was largely due to disagreements we had about the changes introduced to our 2017 Budget proposals by the National Assembly”. He continued to say, 'the Executive took the view that the changes fundamentally affected some of our priority programmes and would make implementation extremely difficult and in some cases impossible.” He, however, said the disagreements were resolved and the leadership of the National Assembly promised to reinstate budgetary allocations for important executive projects....

Most wanted richest kidnapper in Nigeria arrested

The Nigerian Police Force has paraded a billionaire Chukwudi Dumeme Onuamadike, alias Evans who has been described as Nigeria’s “richest and most notorious kidnapper,” and members of his gang, revealing their victims and the ransom collected at various times. Evans, the kingpin was arrested in his mansion in Magodo estate in Lagos on Saturday by the police Joint Special Forces led by the Intelligence Response Team, the Lagos State Police Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit and Technical and Intelligent Unit of the Force under the supervision of the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State.  The police described Evans, a native of Nnewi, “as  the vicious leader of a highly organised kidnap-for-ransom syndicate and criminal gang terrorising and responsible for several kidnap of notable/prominent Nigerians in Lagos State, including the Western, Eastern, South-South and some Northern States. He has his gangs active and spread across these mentioned states.” A statement by police spokesman CSP Jimoh Moshood said: After an intense gun battle  that...
