A final year student of the Imo State University almost committed murder-suicide, as she committed suicide, shortly after stabbing her boyfriend. TVCONTINENTAL gathered there was a heated argument between the final year computer science student and her lover before the unfortunate incident. The incident occurred at Joe Tony hostel. It was gathered that after their breakup, the boyfriend stormed Jennifer’s hostel to retrieve all the valuables he bought for her, hence the fight that led to the stabbing. Thinking that he would die, the girlfriend allegedly drank poison afterwards. However, neighbours later broke into the room and rushed them to FMC, Owerri, where Jennifer was confirmed dead and the boyfriend is currently battling for survival.  ...

Police commence recruitment of 10, 000 officers

Nigeria's Police Service Commission has kick-started the nationwide recruitment of 10, 000 policemen today. President Muhammadu Buhari, had at the National Security Summit in Abuja, directed the Force to recruit 10,000 Nigerians into the service, to address the lapse in manpower. Police Service Commission Chairman, Mike Okiro, has warned the commission's workers who would be involved in the screening of candidates, to avoid any act, that may jeopardise the integrity of the exercise. Okiro said any worker involved in any misconduct during the exercise, would be sanctioned, in line with the Public Service Rules. He warned the candidates to desist from inducing the workers of the commission and that anyone caught, would be arrested and prosecuted....

Navy hands over 11 stowaways to Immigration, Police

TVC E, NEWS - Nigerian Navy at the NNS Beecroft, Apapa on Wednesday handed over eleven stowaways to the Nigerian Immigration and Nigeria police for prosecution Handing over the stowaway made up of two Nigerians, seven Cameroonians and two Sierra Leonians, the Commanding Officer, Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft, Commordore Abraham Adaji said the navy arrested the suspects for illegally boarding Merchant Vessel CITRON on Friday march the 11th. Also paraded was a fake naval officer, who specializes in escorting vehicles carrying foodstuff from the North to Lagos. Police rescue three kidnapped Bauchi girls

The Nigeria Police Force have rescued three teenage girls, who were abducted in Bauchi State and forcefully converted to Islam. The Prison Inmate Development Initiative, a non-governmental organisation, handling the matter, told one of our correspondents that the girls were handed over to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 12, Bauchi, Mr. Tunde Ogunsakin, on Tuesday, by the Shari’ah Commission in the state. A Source had reported on March 6, 2016, that Blessing Gopep, 13, was abducted by two men identified as Iliya and Umaru, both living in Alkaleri, Bauchi State. Blessing and her friend, Mary, were on their way back to Jos after spending their holidays with Blessing’s uncle in Bauchi in August, 2015. Her father had said Blessing and Mary had gone to the Alkaleri motor park, and while they waited on the bus for other passengers, two men, identified as Iliya and Umaru, arrived at the park on a motorcycle and abducted...
