TVC E, POLITICS - President Muhammadu Buhari  has appointed Tolu Ogunlesi as his Special Assistant on Digital/New Media. Ogunlesi, a renowned blogger and journalist, graduated from the University of Ibadan in 2004. He obtained a Masters Degree in Creative Writing from University of East Anglia, United Kingdom, in 2011. Until his appointment, Ogunlesi worked as a Feature Editor and Editorial Board member of NEXT. He also worked as a West Africa Editor for The Africa Report in 2014 and 2015. DMX released from Hospital after ‘asthma’ attack

The cash was withdrawn from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) account in two installments of €1, 401,869 and €2,252,252.25, The commission is also seeking to verify whether or not the vehicles were bought and under diplomatic or bilateral security cooperation....

Dangote begins work on Okpella, Itori cement plants

The new plants are expected to add nine million metric tonnes per annum to the company’s current local cement output of 29.25 million tonnes. According to the company, Okpella is a three million per annum plant, while the Itori plant will produce six million tonnes of cement yearly. The Group Managing Director, Dangote Cement Plc, Mr. Devakumar Edwin, said both plants were expected to come on stream within the next three years, adding that the move was to help expand the company’s manufacturing plants, thereby reducing the transportation cost component of its operations. “The new investments will further lower the cost of production, bring about future reductuon of the price of cement and also generate employment opportunities for youths of the host communities,” he said. Court restrains AGF, others from arresting Kashamu

Kashamu had applied for the order through an ex parte application following his apprehension that he could be abducted by the Federal Government through the NDLEA for the purpose of illegally extraditing him to the United States of America to face drug-related charges. Justice Gabriel Kolawole granted the interim order restraining the senator’s arrest or detention after listening to Kashamu’s lawyer, Ajibola Oluyede, who moved the motion ex parte in the suit marked, FHC/ABJ/CS/479/2015, on Monday. Critical maize meal shortage hits Zambia

According to The Post, wholesalers have been in dire straits since Wednesday last week, but have also taken advantage of the situation by hiking prices. Chipata district commissioner Kalunga Zulu said the reason for the shortage was due to mealie-meal being smuggled into neighbouring Malawi and Mozambique. "I am aware that the provincial administration made a task force looking into the issue of smuggling and working together with milling companies like Cargill, will be able to regulate who we sell this mealie-meal to in the hope that we control the situation. Court clears FG of disobedience on Dasuki

The court held that it was wrong for Dasuki to accuse the federal government and the EFCC of violating the order granting him bail when there was evidence that he was only arrested after he had been released from prison for fulfilling his bail conditions. Justice Husseini Baba Yusuf gave the ruling on Dasuki’s application in which he had sought among others, an order restraining the EFCC from proceeding with his prosecution and an order quashing the charge against him....
